I became interested in Christian Science over twenty-one years ago, at which time I was quickly healed of the social drinking and smoking habits through reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and other authorized Christian Science literature. About one year later my foot was painfully injured in an accident, causing severe lameness. The second day after the injury, after having three treatments from a Christian Science practitioner without any apparent help, I was asked by a friend for an explanation of what Christian Science teaches. My reply was given by the audible repetition of "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468), whereupon the lameness immediately left me and my foot was completely and permanently healed. As we know that several blows of the hammer are sometimes required to break a rock, each blow contributing to that result, so with Christian Science treatments we should not consider that the only helpful treatment is the one which immediately precedes the healing.

Christian Science means everything to me, and I am very grateful for all its activities as established by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy; for the Church Manual, and for The Christian Science Board of Directors; for membership in The Mother Church and in one of its branches; for the many opportunities of serving the Cause in both church and Sunday school work, and for the opportunity to help others, as well as for class instruction by a loyal teacher.
