Your issue of July 5 contains the synopsis of an address in which the speaker inferred that Christian Science denied the "Deity of Christ." From his subsequent remarks it is evident that the speaker did not draw a clear distinction between the "divinity of Christ" and the Deity, or God.

To understand the teachings of Christian Science on this great subject, it is necessary to see the distinction it draws between the human Jesus, the son of Mary, and the spiritual Christ, or Son of God. Christ is divine, and Christian Science therefore teaches the divinity of Christ.

A good illustration of the difference between the spiritual Christ, or Son of God, and the human Jesus is that of sunlight passing through a windowpane. The Christ is represented by the light; the corporeal Jesus by the glass. The physical Jesus disappeared at the ascension, but the Christ forever remains to be spiritually discerned and demonstrated. As our Master said, "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."
