The writing of this testimony is actuated by many thoughts of deep gratitude for the privilege of knowing Christian Science, for membership in a branch church, and for the loving work of practitioners, who are indeed watchmen on the walls.

A healing of the tobacco habit was received at a Wednesday evening meeting in a Christian Science church. The realization that smoking is not one of God's manifestations was brought to my consciousness while I was dwelling on "the scientific statement of being," as given by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, on page 468 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." The desire to express gratitude for this healing enabled me to rise and give audible thanks at a Wednesday evening meeting a short time afterwards. The freedom from fear of giving testimony in such manner was cause for further gratitude. Although I had been a student of Christian Science for about twelve years and had received many blessings, I had been unable to rise and give thanks.

Every material loss may be seen as a spiritual gain, and absolute reliance on divine Love for our daily manna is a joyful experience. While fear of lack and unemployment has tried to create an inharmonious condition of worry, I have been enabled in word and deed to be about my Father's business, and have found that God is ever present.
