Christian Science is everything to me

Christian Science is everything to me. I accepted it when I was a high school student, living away from home, and it has brought me all the happiness and peace I have ever known. Each year, as I learn more of God, life becomes richer and sweeter to me.

The physical healing which stands out most in my recollection is that of an ingrown toenail, which had troubled me ever since early childhood. In 1927 the toe became so inflamed and swollen that I had to wear a shoe which had been cut open, and it was so sensitive that I had to sleep in a certain position to prevent even the sheet from touching it. I finally asked a practitioner for absent treatment, and after about six weeks this offensive condition was healed. If Christian Science had done no more for me than heal me of this ingrown toenail I should have abundant reason to be very grateful; but this is only one of many healings.

Once, after I had been trying for about two weeks to overcome the symptoms of influenza, a friend called my attention to this statement in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 373): "Establish the scientific sense of health, and you relieve the oppressed organ. The inflammation, decomposition, or deposit will abate, and the disabled organ will resume its healthy functions." After studying and working during two evenings to "establish the scientific sense of health," on the second morning I found myself almost entirely free, and during the next two days the healing was perfected. I saw for the first time that health has nothing to do with body, and body nothing to do with health, for health is spiritual; and this is "the scientific sense of health," which cannot be disturbed or touched by any material condition.
