Father-Mother God

"Father-Mother is the name for Deity, which indicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation."—Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, page 332.

The way of grace my childish feet
Have falteringly trod;
But outstretched hands forever find
The fatherhood of God.
Humbled by His compassion,
I pass beneath the rod.

In struggling sense I sometimes lose
The longing to be good;
But chastened heart may rest within
God's tender motherhood,
Refreshed and nourished, fed by Love,
With spiritual food.
