Expression

One of the wonderful things brought to humanity by the teaching of Christian Science is the true meaning of substance. This teaching is a divine influence, a tender, patient, loving guiding of thought to the spiritual, lifting it above the age-old dependence upon materiality to a higher and more spiritual understanding of God, Spirit, as substance. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy says (p. 468): "Substance is that which is eternal and incapable of discord and decay. Truth, Life, and Love are substance."

Thoughts of depression, lack of employment and accompanying fears are quite generally and frequently apparent. Whether or not the Christian Scientist is himself struggling with these prevalent beliefs, it is his opportunity and duty to overcome them in his own thinking; for every individual victory over these false claims not only blesses him, but in a measure destroys them for all mankind.

Christian Science proves that it is by reversing error and not by agreeing with it, by radically refusing to accept it as real, that victory is won over discordant conditions, whatever form they may assume. It came to one student that a counter fact of depression is expression, which is defined as the "act or product of pressing out; act or process of representing."
