It was through the healing of a friend that I was led to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This friend answered my question as to how Christian Science could heal, by telling me it was the method practiced by Jesus when he was on earth. This at once gave me a desire to investigate the subject for myself. Without having any thought of physical healing, I was healed, through my first reading of Science and Health, of a bowel disorder for the relief of which I was daily resorting to medicine, and also of periodic bilious attacks. At this same time I was permanently healed of the desire to rely on drugs as a remedial agency. For many years now I have relied wholly on Christian Science treatment for the prevention and cure of physical inharmony, and the healings have come mainly through my own application of the truth.

During my first perusal of the textbook a new and higher understanding of the life and works of Jesus was revealed to me, and though previous to this I had never been a Bible student, I was filled with a desire to understand the Scriptures. I soon purchased a Bible and a copy of Science and Health, and took up the daily and systematic study of the two books as we are admonished to do in Christian Science.

It is with deep sincerity that I express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for her untiring efforts in presenting this new-old truth to the world in language which may be comprehended by every sincere seeker. I am most grateful to the Board of Directors of The Mother Church for their loyalty and steadfast unity in the faith; for class instruction, and for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church.
