In the May issue of your magazine there is a letter which makes the charge that Christian Science is neither Christian nor scientific.

Christian Science is essentially Christian, for to be a Christian is to be a follower of Christ Jesus, accepting his teaching and practice. Christ Jesus is acknowledged as the Son of God, the Messiah, the Saviour, and his career on earth is accepted as the true exemplification of his teachings and the model for his followers. Mrs. Eddy advised her followers specifically, "Follow your Leader only so far as she follows Christ" (Message to The Mother Church for 1901, p. 34).

As for being scientific, Christian Science is scientific because it is demonstrable, capable of proof. Mrs. Eddy answers this criticism herself on page 341 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "Sneers at the application of the word Science to Christianity cannot prevent that from being scientific which is based on divine Principle, demonstrated according to a divine given rule, and subjected to proof." Christian Science is the logical analysis of the teachings and practices of Christ Jesus, an exposition of the fundamentals involved and the proofs thereof by actual demonstration.
