There is a passage in the Bible which says, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Through continuing in the Word I have been healed of an incipient goiter, which I had had since high school days. A leading surgeon in the city in which I formerly lived had suggested, in all friendliness, that an operation should be performed, as the condition would give me great difficulty later. Some time ago I became aware that every vestige of the condition had disappeared, together with chronic sore throat which had been very troublesome.

I am very grateful for this added proof of the efficacy of Christian Science, the study of which brings a knowledge of God as Principle; and through this knowledge comes a calm assurance that there is no condition which cannot be healed through the understanding that God, good, is the only power.

For many years I resented what seemed to be a needless reiteration of Mrs. Eddy's name in the Wednesday evening testimony meetings. I felt that newcomers would think we worshiped her, and I knew that this was farthest from the thought of every Christian Scientist. Then came a time when, through the passing on of a member of my family, a sense of overresponsibility came to me; and this, together with a fear of death, brought about a nervous breakdown. Although I had treatments for several weeks, I finally was obliged to give up my position. Then the practitioner brought me her copy of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" by Mrs. Eddy, and during the reading of this book I became filled with a great sense of gratitude to our revered Leader for the courage, steadfastness, intelligence, wisdom, love, and patience which she evidenced in organizing the Christian Science movement and protecting it so that it might always stand.
