I want to take advantage of the great privilege granted to us in the Christian Science periodicals, to express publicly my gratitude for the many blessings that have come to me through divine Love.

Although I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing, I received help from it after five doctors had diagnosed my case as a combination of Bright's disease and dropsy. Each gave his opinion that I might live two years, but that it would mean a strict diet under medical treatment. Not being in a financial condition to permit of that, and having a mental state so unsettled in regard to other unhappy conditions about me, with no church that brought me the consolation I sought, I appealed to a dear Christian Science friend with my troubles, and she saw my need at once.

At first I was prejudiced against this religion, as I had heard and believed the false statements that had been made about Mrs. Eddy; but my friend persisted, and at last I consented to read the chapter on Prayer in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. When I had finished it I did not want to stop, for I knew I had found the truth which is spoken of in the Bible, and for which I had been searching. That was in 1918, and since then my whole outlook has changed. All signs of dropsy left me, as well as headaches to which I had been subject ever since a child; a growth in the stomach, about the size of an egg, disappeared; and the Bright's disease was healed. I have also been healed of colds, catarrh, indigestion, burns, and a peculiar growth in my ear. Daily I am helped in weeding out the tares of self-pity, intolerance, and self-justification. There is much work yet to be done, but much of the good I receive is gained by knowing that I can help others on the way while I am learning.
