Christian Science teaches that everything is possible...
Christian Science teaches that everything is possible with God, and I have had this proved to me. I had the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, in my home for ten years; but, though I relied on practitioners when my children were ill, I never read the textbook except in times of illness. One reason I did not study Christian Science more thoroughly was that I am of foreign birth and the English language was hard for me to read.
My eyes had been sore from birth and they were getting worse. It seemed as though I might lose my sight entirely, and therefor it was thought advisable to consult a specialist. He told my husband that if I underwent an operation immediately, he might be able to save one eye. When I was told of this I awakened to the fact that only Christian Science could heal me. A practitioner was called and I received wonderful help from her; but it was not until I realized that I had to study the Christian Science textbook and try to live up to its teachings that I received my complete healing.
I should like to tell of another incident that I consider greater than the healing of my eyes. I was once called upon to read the Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly for a group of blind men in a county infirmary. It was early one Monday morning and I had not had the time to read the Bible Lesson myself, and I had only one hour to get to the train. As I said before, I am of foreign birth and have a foreign accent and at times stumble over words. The reading was a hard task for me to undertake, but I did not think of myself; had I done so, I could not have read at all. I was thinking only of the men who were waiting to hear the Christ, Truth, that Mrs. Eddy teaches. I was not afraid, and I felt spiritually uplifted when I stood before them.
