Over fourteen years ago I came into Christian Science for physical healing. I had been under the care of five physicians for sixteen months, and had also spent some time in a hospital. I really took up Christian Science as a last resort, for I seemed to be slowly starving. I had much to unlearn, as previous to this I had been a nurse for ten years. In a few months I gained fifty pounds in weight and was the picture of health.
I have seen many wonderful healings in my immediate family: one in particular I should like to relate. In the winter of 1924 my husband, who is a locomotive engineer, fell from his engine, sustaining what physicians diagnosed as a broken neck and a very bad scalp wound. The fractured vertebra caused complete paralysis of the body. I was in the East when the accident occurred. As soon as I received the message I called on a Christian Science practitioner for help. I came West and went to the company hospital.
We shall always be very grateful to the surgeons, internes, nurses, and orderlies of the big hospital for their kindness and care, but in spite of it all one terrible thing after another came up. In the meantime I had asked for help from another practitioner, one in that city.
