I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me. I did not take up the study of Christian Science for physical healing, but because of the meager results obtained from years of untiring efforts in a church of which I was a member.
I have had many physical healings, among them the healing of indigestion and sick headaches of long standing. And by the application of Christian Science I have been protected many times from what might have been serious accidents. The Scriptures have been illumined in a wonderful way by the explanations found in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
The proof of the efficacy of this divine power for which I am most grateful is the healing of my husband, who was not a Christian Scientist at the time. He had been treated by a stomach specialist for some time for acute indigestion, but was rapidly growing worse. and it seemed as if he were about to pass on. One night, after much suffering, he announced that he was going to change doctors and let God be his physician, and he asked me to call a Christian Science practitioner. This I gladly did, and the work was immediately taken up. The next day he seemed to have a stroke; his legs and arms were stiff, and his throat seemed partially paralyzed. But with the faithful work of the dear practitioner, in three weeks' time he was able to walk out of doors with the aid of a cane. In a few weeks the cane was discarded. This was in May, 1927, and in July he was able to drive his car about the city and to ride one hundred and fifty miles to a distant city, driving his own car home again two weeks later. In September he was able to resume his business activities. Even his unbelieving friends think it is marvelous. His mental faculties, which at first seemed sadly awry, have resumed their normal condition; and best of all, he is turning to Christian Science to meet his everyday problems in a way which causes me to rejoice greatly. A sense of lack seemed to manifest itself at this time also, but whenever and wherever there seemed to be a need it was met, thus proving true Mrs. Eddy's words (Science and Health, p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
