"As we are taught in Christian Science"

In expressing thankfulness for blessings experienced, speakers in our Wednesday evening testimony meetings sometimes make the remark that prayer was offered or the truth declared "as we are taught in Christian Science." Similar statements are read from time to time in the testimonies published in The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel.

The questions might be asked: What are the teachings of Christian Science? What is the prayer which heals the sick? What is the faith which stopped the mouths of lions, and which is just as powerful to-day? What is the knowledge of the truth which brings freedom, and keeps one free? What are the teachings which have been revealed to the world, instructing one as to how to bear "witness unto the truth" with such positive results?

Christian Science is the discovery by Mary Baker Eddy of the divine Principle of Jesus' teachings and demonstrations. This revelation came to her when she was in great need of healing; and she has elucidated it for all mankind in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which contains the answers to all these questions. This volume is indeed a "key" to the Scriptures, as the name indicates. Mrs. Eddy quotes from the Bible almost eight hundred times in this book of seven hundred pages, so making clear the spiritual meaning and practical power of the Scriptures. Christian Scientists are grateful for all the efforts of Mrs. Eddy on behalf of mankind; for well do they know that but for her labors they would be unable to testify to such abundant health, happiness, and harmony as they now enjoy.
