For many years I tried to know and do God's will, but at last became very much discouraged, for I did not seem able to understand or love God as taught in the church of which I was then a member. How could I love a God who it was thought sent more evil than good; and how could I be expected to be always good if evil had as much, or more, power than good?

Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 1 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" that "desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires, that they may be moulded and exalted before they take form in words and in deeds." I am persuaded that it was in answer to this desire to know God aright that I was led to study Christian Science. I had no thought of physical healing at the time I took up this study; but while reading the chapter on Prayer in Science and Health I was healed of an internal difficulty of many years' standing, one which had been declared by a doctor to be incurable. This proved to me that Christian Science is the truth about God which I had been longing to know. By applying this truth as we are taught in the writings of Mrs. Eddy, I have been healed of many troubles, physical and mental. I am very grateful for these healings, but most grateful for the moral uplifting and spiritual understanding I have obtained.
