When the desire to study Christian Science came to me...
When the desire to study Christian Science came to me there was no physical ailment, but I felt a need of something tangible with which to work out the daily problems. Although I had an excellent position and pleasant surroundings, I saw much injustice in business and social life. This caused a feeling of resentment and disgust which I could not overcome. My first physical healing came soon after I began to study: it was of a foot trouble of long duration. The foot was instantaneously healed a short time after my study began, on an occasion when I was carried out of a service at The Mother Church where I had fainted. Next I laid aside glasses which I had worn for seventeen years; intermittent deafness was healed; also a sinus difficulty. Scarlet fever symptoms were healed in three treatments, and I learned to love my way through situations that had hitherto bored me. When I realized that man expresses God, I ceased declining executive positions which were offered, and specialized in a certain branch of my work. Later the right position for me unfolded through Christian Science treatment. Every right desire has been fulfilled by acknowledging man's unity with God, good.
Only by a lifetime of consecrated effort can I attempt to pay my debt of gratitude for the teachings of Christian Science. The necessity which forced me to choose between my profession and the public practice of Christian Science has proved a blessing. I rejoice that God's message was clear to me.
