I wish to express my gratitude to God for healings, both physical and mental. My first healing, the overcoming of nervousness, came quickly while I was memorizing "the scientific statement of being," given by Mrs. Eddy on page 468 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." It came to me as the most wonderful statement I had ever read. I then started reading Science and Health, knowing it contained the truth. There were many things in it I did not understand; still, I was convinced of what our Leader says (ibid., p. 461): "We admit the whole, because a part is proved and that part illustrates and proves the entire Principle."

I had always believed that healing should be done as Jesus did it, and rejoiced that Mrs. Eddy lived close enough to God to find the way he trod. The joy and peace that came at that time cannot be expressed. It was the peace that "passeth all understanding." I was so uplifted and so free from many ailments—headaches I had had from my earliest recollection, which were becoming more severe and more frequent; inaction of the bowels; extreme sleeplessness and weariness. I was sensitive, worried, and fearful; fearful not only for myself but for my loved ones—and I was unhappy, even as a child. It seemed that nothing was right; but healing and true happiness came with the understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him as taught in Christian Science.

I am grateful to the Directors of The Mother Church for their untiring watchfulness and care, and to dear practitioners and friends for their love and kindness in time of need. The Reading Rooms and our periodicals have been a source of help and joy, and I am especially thankful for The Christian Science Monitor and the news that comes to us so free from error.
