The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Leipzig, Germany (First Church).

Lecturer: Miss Lucia C. Coulson; introduced by August Bartling, who said:—

When Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life," he certainly did not mean that his person was the redeemer; but he was speaking of his knowledge of the divine nature, of the Christ, Truth, which inspired him. It was this that enabled him to do the works which are recorded in the Gospels, and which he enjoined his followers to do. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes on pages 142 and 143 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "Truth is God's remedy for error of every kind, and Truth destroys only what is untrue. Hence the fact that, to-day, as yesterday, Christ casts out evils and heals the sick."
