Christian Science has helped me both physically and...
Christian Science has helped me both physically and mentally. Nine years ago I was healed by it of a condition supposedly brought on by an accident and thought to be incurable, after everything else that I had tried had failed. Words cannot tell of the sense of freedom that filled my consciousness after the first visit to a practitioner, when I learned that man is free and deathless; that regardless of what the physical sense may seem to say, man is God's image and likeness and therefore perfect here and now.
Since that time I have had no other aid. I have had numerous healings, many of them instantaneous, and for these I am deeply grateful; but for the understanding that came to me through the working out of problems of longer duration, my gratitude is unbounded. Christian Science is teaching me to love my fellow-men and is healing me of resentment, unkind criticism, selfishness, and many other undesirable traits of character.
Sick headaches, which were becoming more and more frequent, occurring sometimes as often as twice in a week, were overcome by turning my thought to the contemplation of God's perfect child. Instead of seeing stupidity and stubbornness, I began to see God's idea, man, reflecting intelligence and loveliness. One day, while working along this line, I opened our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, to page 452 and read, "Better is the frugal intellectual repast with contentment and virtue, than the luxury of learning with egotism and vice." I was immediately able to give thanks for that which was set before me in the way of human companionship.
