[Written for the Sentinel]

Morning Prayer

O Love, deliver me this day I pray,
From every evil; let me set a watch
Upon my thoughts, that no false prophecy
Or unwise judgment, condemnation wrong,
Erroneous counsel, adverse influence
Be found in consciousness—neither within
Nor yet without the citadel of self.
Teach me to lay aside the interests
Of the weak sense of self apart from Thee.
Establish Thou the work of my right hand;
The righteousness of Truth, establish it.
And let Thy graciousness so permeate
Each act and thought to-day, in service sweet
Of Truth and Life and Love, that Thy great Word
Enrich both me and mine and all mankind.
