It gives me great pleasure to tell what Christian Science has done for me and how it has illumined the Bible to me. Previously I could never understand the Bible, or enjoy reading it. Christian Science has given me a glimpse of the truth that leads to life everlasting.

When but a child I bruised my shin bone severely, and though the place healed, it was always sensitive. About eight years ago I seemed to be afflicted in many ways: constipation, severe kidney trouble, my limbs twice their natural size, rheumatism, and many other disorders. The bruised limb became inflamed and painful, and a physician was called. He said I had blood poisoning and dropsy. After two weeks' treatment he told my daughter there was no help for me, and while I might live for two weeks, he thought twenty-four hours would tell the tale. My extremity became God's opportunity.

Some friends who had experienced wonderful healings told us of Christian Science; but we were not ready to listen to them until all material means had been exhausted and there was nothing left but to turn to God. At this point we decided to try Christian Science and called a practitioner, who came to see me. While she was talking to me I began to feel better, and I know the healing began then. She told me that if I felt like getting up to do so. I arose, dressed myself, went downstairs, ate supper with the family, and have not spent a day in bed since. About four months later a pimple came on my limb and began to discharge. It kept getting larger and deeper until it was the size of a silver dollar and I must confess I became discouraged at times, thinking it would never heal. But the practitioner would say: "'Be still, and know.' Look where Love found you and count your blessings. Nothing is impossible with God." When I thought of how much we had all been helped, I was ashamed to doubt God's love and power; so when I began to search my thoughts as well as the Scriptures and the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, more faithfully for a better understanding of how I had been healed rather than how I should be further benefited, I found to my surprise that the complete healing had taken place. It is now six years since my healing—the brightest, happiest years of my life; and as I put off the old man and strive to follow the teachings of our Saviour, they will grow brighter still until I "see him as he is." Our Leader says on page 167 of Science and Health, "We apprehend Life in divine Science only as we live above corporeal sense and correct it." This I have proved to be true.
