I should like to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. I took up this study about sevenyears ago, at a time when I was in a seemingly hopeless physical condition. I had been under the care of doctors for many years, seeking relief from various ailments, two of which were pronounced incurable. One of these was sick headaches, from which I had suffered since childhood, and the other was tuberculosis.
I left my residence in the East and came to California expressly for the purpose of finding health, but soon found that change of environment and climate has no part in true healing. Therefore, still ill and greatly disappointed, I was again compelled to return to the physicians. With a new determination to know the facts of my condition I underwent a thorough Xray examination and was informed that not only was I undoubtedly tubercular, but that also I had heart trouble. I became despondent and resigned myself to the thought that good health was not for me.
It was at this time that a friend spoke to me of Christian Science, and asked me if I wished to attend the next Wednesday evening meeting. He explained his own remarkable healing, and it occurred to me that the same outstretched hand which had lifted him must surely be extended to me. After that first meeting I purchased "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and began to read very earnestly and to study the Bible Lessons. After reading for about three months I went to a practitioner, not for physical help, but just to learn from her why I did not seem to understand what I was reading. I was new in Christian Science, and she explained very patiently a number of points which had been confusing me. It was when, after I had related my experience with medical methods and told her all my bodily troubles, and she had declared that now I had not at all the appearance of a person so afflicted, that I realized I must have had an instantaneous healing.
