[Written for the Sentinel]

"I shall be satisfied"

"As for me, I will behold thy face
In righteousness." O Father, I shall see
Thy mercies manifold. Thy purity
Shall cleanse me with its own redeeming grace;
For in Thy light can live no earthly trace,
No dream of evil can exist in Thee.
So let me ever live that I may see
Thy face in righteousness, and self efface.

I shall be satisfied, dear Father, God,
When I awake from this earth-dream that seems
To hold me in its thrall. The splendid gleams
Of pure high heaven will dissolve the sod,
And in Thine image I shall stand forth free:
I shall be satisfied, reflecting Thee.
