It is with deep gratitude that I desire to make known the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. For about three years one of my knees used to swell periodically, each time causing much suffering. Finally, over two years ago, I had to leave my work and have the care of a doctor. The doctor attended me for two months, but without any benefit. After having the knee X-rayed he advised an operation. According to him this had become very urgent, for a part of the bone had begun to be affected. Then I was to stay some time in a sanitarium. He said that it would take at least two years to cure me, but I would probably come out with the leg paralyzed. Upon hearing this I was very much depressed, the more so because the other knee and also the kidneys were causing me suffering.

In my despair I turned to Christian Science, which I knew of through having sometimes attended meetings with a friend fifteen years before. It was not in vain for, thanks to the consecration of a practitioner from whom I asked help, the pain completely vanished after the first treatment and I could walk without a cane. My healing progressed from day to day until at the end of two months I was entirely free from these ills.

Because of my long absence I had lost my position. Then Christian Science came again to my rescue through the understanding I had acquired that God always has met and will continue to meet all human needs. It was through this same understanding, and the very devoted work of the practitioner, that I was able to have my little daughter come to my home. She was then seven years old and had been under treatment for five months at Leysin, where the doctors had sent her saying she had all the symptoms of tubercular peritonitis. She was confined to bed, being constantly feverish during her stay in the mountains. Since her return, the child has no longer had need of a doctor, and she joyfully attends the Christian Science Sunday School.
