I turned to Christian Science because of the wonderful works I saw accomplished in my family. I had seemed to lose God and all hope in religion; but when I began to study our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I knew I had found the truth and was completely satisfied. My first healing was of severe headaches which occurred frequently, and for which every remedy I had tried had failed. After I had been studying Christian Science a few months a headache came on and I at once went to my room and opened Science and Health at page 390. How long I read I do not know, but I went to sleep and woke perfectly well. About three months later a headache started again, and I turned to the same divine remedy, with the result that I have never had a return of the trouble. I realized, too, that a change had to take place in my character before I could gain this healing. Among many healings I have experienced I am especially grateful for two recent ones which medicine had failed to cure, and for which I am thankful to God beyond expression.

I am also deeply grateful for membership in The Mother Church, for class instruction, for a better understanding of God; also for a much greater and fuller appreciation of the wonderful life, works, and example of Christ Jesus, which makes me love him more every day; and to Mrs. Eddy for the purity of thought which enabled her to receive the revelation of Christian Science, and for her life of love and self-sacrifice in giving it to the world. I am so grateful for the desire to study the Bible in the light of Christian Science, and for the privilege of studying all our Leader's inspired writings.

My family and I needed both moral and physical healing; for our home was not a happy one. My father was eighty-one when he took up the study of Christian Science, and he drank in its teachings with joy and was healed of double rupture which had been almost a lifelong burden. My mother turned to Christian Science at once with such faith in its teachings that when her first practitioner told her to leave off taking medicine, which a specialist had ordered her to take every twelve hours because she was too old for an operation, she agreed, and at the end of five days her healing came. That was a very wonderful experience, and we felt deeply grateful that our beloved Leader had revealed to the world again the Christ, Truth. Two years later my mother had class instruction, which increased her understanding so much that she was able to help many. The good Shepherd had shown her "how to gather, how to sow" (Poems, p. 14).
