True Consciousness

On our journey from sense to Soul, we soon discover that much depends upon the spiritual understanding we possess of man. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy tells us, on page 67, that "spiritual, not corporeal, consciousness is needed." The salvation of the whole world, indeed, depends upon the true understanding of God and His reflection—man.

In Romans we read, "Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind." And there is no other way of renewing the mind than to displace material sense with the consciousness of Spirit, God.

Jesus taught that the kingdom of heaven is within us; and through the teachings of Christian Science we deduce from this that heaven is a state of true consciousness, or the consciousness of Truth, God. From this it logically follows that "hell," the suppositional opposite of heaven, must be a so-called state of lack of consciousness of Truth.
