When Christian Science found me, I was in a dying condition as a result of heart trouble, chronic gastritis, indigestion, lung trouble, and an incurable disease. I was practically without friends, and very much in debt. I had smoked and drunk heavily for several years, and was addicted to other vices attendant on excessive drinking.

As a result of constant study and practice of Christian Science, together with some treatments, my health has been completely restored, my business has improved to a noticeable degree, and I have lost all desire for smoking and drinking. Swearing, telling of vulgar stories, lying, and similar errors have been exposed and destroyed.

"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was read three times before any conscious benefit was derived. Its teachings were so contrary to former religious beliefs that it seems now that only the desperate physical condition urged me to carry on. The shell of materiality was finally broken, and thereafter I literally devoured the contents of the book at every opportunity. Every student knows the joy which comes with the first glimpse of Truth!
