God Elects

Christian Scientists are not politicians in the commonly accepted sense of the term, but they strive to follow the example of their Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who wrote (see page 276 of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany): "I am asked, 'What are your politics?' I have none, in reality, other than to help support a righteous government; to love God supremely, and my neighbor as myself." As the time for an election approaches, be it in church, state, or nation, the Christian Scientist does his part by realizing that in this, as in all things, nothing should interfere with the fulfilment of God's law operating in the affairs of men to bring out the highest and best results.

Is the Christian Scientist wondering who will be the next Readers and directors of his church, the next governor of his state, the next President of the Federal government? or is he faithfully knowing that these are questions for scientific demonstration? Is he realizing that God manifests Himself through right ideas?

The newspapers frequently discuss what are called "presidential possibilities," and it is well to keep ourselves informed on all subjects of interest to mankind. A dictionary gives as one definition of "possibility," "a thing or event that may or may not happen;" and it further points out the contrast between "possible" and actual or certain.
