Song

The word "song" suggests melody, harmony, rhythm, joy, praise, gratitude. Many a burden has been lifted by the song of gratitude. Many a sorrow has been stilled by the song of praise to God. Song often eases pain, subdues passion, and quiets fear.

David, "the sweet psalmist of Israel," is said to have written many of the songs in the book of psalms, songs of praise and gratitude, songs of assurance and confidence, songs of comfort and deliverance, songs of faith and thanks giving. Listen to this from the one hundred and eighteenth psalm: "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." If every Bible student began the day with this song upon his lips and in his heart he would be blessed, and would have opportunity to bless others.

The writer was awakened early one morning by the whistling of a beautiful melody by one as he went to his day's work. Soon a voice from across the street called to him, "May I ask what makes you so happy this fine morning?" Quick came the reply, "It is my right to be happy!" And on went the whistler and his whistling.
