For about seventeen years I suffered with an internal complaint. I was treated by numerous doctors, eventually having to undergo a very serious operation; but the result was that shortly afterwards I was pronounced incurable. At this period, when I had almost reached the last extremity, Christian Science was presented to me by a friend, who related his experience of having black-water and malarial fevers in northern Rhodesia so badly that he had to be carried on a stretcher to Bulawayo, thence by train here, and who, after receiving Christian Science treatment, was completely healed. I could not believe what he told me, as I had grown up practically an atheist; however, as a last resort I decided to try it. I went to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting and derived great comfort, feeling that I had come to the right place. I then called on a Christian Science practitioner, who very lovingly helped me; and I am indeed happy to say that during the first month I was entirely healed.

Since then my eyesight has been completely restored. I had worn glasses for years, an optician having stated that I would probably require heavier glasses each year, as the astigmatism was so bad. I have been healed of many bad traits of character, such as hate, resentment, envy; also of the tobacco and liquor habits. For the past seven years Christian Science has been my only physician, and mere words are quite inadequate to express my heartfelt gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus our Way-shower, and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.

I am also very grateful for the privilege of membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church.—Alfred Hubert Beere, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa.
