All that I am and all that I have I owe to Christian Science

All that I am and all that I have I owe to Christian Science. It has been my only helper for over thirteen years, and never once, when faithfully and honestly applied, has it failed to heal any discordant condition, whether mental, moral, or Physical. When first this beautiful truth was presented to me I was restored from a condition of invalidism to one of useful activity through reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Since that time I have experienced many physical healings, of colds, burns, quinsy, influenza, neuralgia, a sprained foot, and other ills. Many wrong traits in character have been corrected, and although there still seem to be more which need correcting, I know that as I progress in understanding these too will disappear. Sometimes a condition has been healed instantaneously, at other times the healing has been apparently slow; but each problem overcome has meant so much increase in spiritual growth and understanding, that I am truly grateful for every experience.

During a long period of persecution and opposition to Christian Science I was wondrously helped and sustained. At times discouragement and disappointment would try to creep in; yet never did they remain when I remembered all that God had done for me. I have many times proved the truth of those words of our dear Leader in Science and Health (p. 444), "Step by step will those who trust Him find that 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble'" Sometimes it seemed to be very slow progress, but on looking back I see the necessity for each and every footstep.

There is one particular occasion of which I feel compelled to write, that it may in some measure help others, as it has helped me. I had reached a point where I saw that it was necessary to leave what I then called my home and give up all material means of supply to stand alone with God, and for God, and for the religion that I so dearly loved. I was quite ready and willing to do this. So many times it had been my happy privilege to demonstrate supply that I had not the slightest doubt. I knew my needs would be met, but before I left everything behind I wanted to see the way in which the supply was to come.
