Your anonymous correspondent, "Northill," while objecting...

Albertan

Your anonymous correspondent, "Northill," while objecting to my statements regarding Christian Science healing, and healing by other churches, concedes some important points. While Christian Scientists are disposed to rejoice that older churches are taking even a single step toward spiritual healing, we would not dispute the statement of "Northill," when he says, "The conception of spiritual healing as held by the Anglican church and spiritual healing as held by the Christian Science church, are as far apart as the poles." This is obvious, since, as our anonymous friend says, his church teaches that "the herbs of the field, and drugs and doctors are God's agents for healing the body." If drugs are God's agents for healing, we might well tremble for the welfare of humanity. We have much reason to be grateful that Christian Science has come to this age with a clearer message as to God's healing power. Christian Science is not only healing disease without drugs, but, with its gracious and life-giving message, it is liberating unfortunate victims of the drug habit.

We are glad to learn that our friend, like an ever increasing number of intelligent thinkers, has read our Leader's writings. Perseverance in this study will enable him to catch a clearer vision of Mrs. Eddy's work, as many another worker in the older churches is gaining it. The Rev. Edward T. Vernon, of London, has fittingly said: "God used Mrs. Eddy for a special revelation, and there is, indeed, no reason why this should not be so. No just person can fail to admire her as a religious leader. She has founded a great church, and, let us say it frankly, brought great blessing on countless lives."
