Over five years ago Christian Science came into my life...
Over five years ago Christian Science came into my life through the healing of my little daughter, which brought to me the realization and complete conviction that God is indeed all-loving and an ever present help in time of trouble, whose healing power is available at any time and anywhere. An earnest study of the Bible together with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy followed, and through a faithful endeavor to apply the teachings of Christian Science, many wonderful blessings have come. I have begun to realize that man is the idea of infinite Mind, and that I live, move, and have my being in this Mind.
Last summer, through a severe nervous breakdown following a period of great business strain, a great sense of human injustice and self-condemnation was aroused in me. I suffered much physical weakness and pain. Through the loving and patient help of a Christian Science practitioner I was made to see the truth of Mrs. Eddy's statements in Science and Health (pp. 346, 496): "Disbelief in error destroys error, and leads to the discernment of Truth," and, "In Science there is no transfer of evil suggestions from one mortal to another, for there is but one Mind, and this everpresent omnipotent Mind is reflected by man and governs the entire universe." Thus the shafts of error were nullified, and both health and business were established upon a firmer basis.
Mrs. Eddy writes on page 66: "Trials are proofs of God's care. . . . Each successive stage of experience unfolds new views of divine goodness and love." Thus we learn to love our trials and the victory over them, proving each one a stepping-stone in the journey from sense to Soul, and gaining a realization that good is man's inheritance; that man cannot for an instant be separated from God, since man is His reflection. With strict attention to the Lesson-Sermon and obedience to the Manual of The Mother Church, together with the constant practice of overcoming evil with good, all thoughts of injury, self-condemnation, resentment, or lack have been blotted out.
