In the year 1920 I was out riding with my brother, who was not interested in Christian Science. On our way home a machine that was being driven quite rapidly ran into us and turned our car completely over. My brother was thrown to the side of the road, and I was pinned under our machine. Some men working on the road helped my brother up, and it was quite a while later when they discovered I was under the car. When they got me out I was unconscious. They immediately drove to a hospital, but were informed that every room was taken. I surely was grateful for this protection. They then drove me home, and on the way called a physician. All the time I was unconscious, but while the physician was attending me I regained consciousness and would not allow him to go any farther.

I again lost consciousness, but after a Christian Science practitioner had been called, who faithfully worked all night, I once more regained consciousness, and on the third day I asked to be put in a chair. I seemed to be getting worse instead of better, when one day the error was uncovered. My brother came to see me and said that he was keeping in touch with the doctor, who informed him that I would never have any circulation in my limbs, as certain veins were cut. After my brother left, my daughter called up the practitioner, who was one hundred and twenty miles away, and informed her what was going on. She lovingly advised my daughter, if it were possible, to take me to the city; but it did not seem possible for me to go. God's help and power were, however, present; and within two days I was taken to town, and, thank God, within seven weeks I was healed and able to walk.

I am indeed very grateful for this demonstration. As Mrs. Eddy tells us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 410): "Every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger. The more difficult seems the material condition to be overcome by Spirit, the stronger should be our faith and the purer our love." This was proved to me.
