[Original testimony in German]

For twelve years I suffered from asthma, a chronic cough, and catarrh. What my relatives and I endured during this time can hardly be described. The choking fits grew worse, and came more frequently. I could take only warm food and beverages. As I could not eat anything for weeks at a time, I naturally grew weaker. For weeks, even months at a time, whatever the kind of weather, I was forced to remain at an open window, trying to get air. When I was able to go to bed, lying down was still impossible. We consulted several physicians, and they all did their best to relieve me of my agonizing complaint, as they called it. After I had been in this condition for a few years my heart and lungs became affected. The physicians considered me to be incurable. I had long since given up all hope of being healed. I was possessed with only one thought, one desire, namely, to be released from the terrible agony as soon as possible.
In Novermber, 1921, acquaintances called my attention to Christian Science. I had never heard of it before. They sent me some copies of Der Herold der Christian Science to read. It was the testimonies of healing which called forth the desire to try this method. We asked a practitioner for treatment, which was at once lovingly given. From that very hour I took no more medicine. At first my healing came slowly, but one complaint after another began to disappear. After about a year's treatment in Christian Science, and by studying diligently the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was healed. Just here I should like to express my sincere gratitude to the dear practitioner for the great love and patience with which she supported me during this difficult time.
My mother also wishes to express her gratitude for a healing in Christian Science, during this time, of a serious case of gallstones. Words are inadequate to express the gratitude we feel for all the blessings that Christian Science has brought into our lives. I hope this testimony will arouse in others confidence in God and in the teaching of Mrs. Eddy.
