Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication for the Year Ended September 30, 1926

For Southern California.

The daily press generally acts kindly toward Christian Science, and most newspapers use care to avoid incorrect references to Mrs. Eddy and to our religion. When misstateing are published, editors are usually fair about publishing corrections. The cordial relations existing between newspapers and our religion are evidenced by the "Sentence Sermons" which appear every Sunday in the Santa Barbara Morning Press, where brief extracts from our periodicals are give, together with short contributions from various ministers.

The Christian Science churches and societies in Southern California have worked together in harmonious relations, and the growth in spirituality is evidenced by the increasing membership and the new church organizations which have been formed. For a number of years it has been customary for authorized Christian Science churches and societies to announce at their services that they are branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and some of the branch organizations have also made such announcements in their newspaper notices and advertising. During the past year, a number of the branch churches and societies of Southern California have inserted such a clause in their newspaper items. Thus the public has been further educated and protected against impositions which use the name "Christian Science" without the authority of our church.
