A preacher is reported in your recent issue as having made several misstatements relative to Christian Science, and in order that any false impressions caused by these misstatements may be corrected, and for the benefit of your readers who deserve to be correctly informed, I respectfully ask space in your columns for the purpose herein stated. Christian Science does not teach that "a man is saved just by being good and by a certain kind of character, regardless of what he believes, or whether anything in particular or not," as reported. On the contrary, Christian Science teaches that one should be particular and careful not only as to what he believes, but in what he thinks; and the vital importance of correct thinking is not disregarded by a Christian Scientist, "for as he thinketh in his heart, so is he."

The fundamental teaching that God is the one and only Mind opens the way for a complete victory over evil; and men are made better mentally, morally, and physically by the understanding of the oneness and allness of God. Christian Science teaches that there is a vital connection between the teachings of Christ Jesus and his works, and the understanding of what he taught makes it possible to repeat his works. It proves that that which destroys sin is equally powerful to heal sickness. Christian Science is demonstrating that the words of Christ Jesus apply to the believer in this as well as any other age, and that it is one's divine right to-day to enjoy all the blessings and benefits of the gospel, which was preached for the salvation of the world.
