[Written for the Sentinel]

He Thinks on Thee

He thinks on thee—oh, truth sublime!
Through all the years, in every clime,
Where'er thy wand'ring footsteps stray,
In pastures green or thorny way,
He thinks on thee, for thou art dear;
Then, troubled heart, no longer fear.

As He has thought, so it shall stand;
No power can change what He has planned;
Nor can aught alter His decree,
Or thoughts of peace He giveth thee.
Therefore, O heart, be of good cheer,
The Love that promises is near.
