"Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me." When at the age of eight or nine I was put to bed, I was always obliged to throw back the covering in order to be able to breathe. This condition tormented me for thirty years, and I went from one physician to another to obtain relief, but found none. I was obliged to undergo an operation at the hands of the last physician I consulted, for according to his diagnosis there was no other way of saving me. An incision was made, and I was obliged to remain in the clinic six weeks, when I was discharged as healed. My old complaint, however, returned that very hour, and besides this the operation left a new complaint.

In 1919, I heard of Christian Science for the first time through some dear friends, and I turned to a practitioner for instruction and help, which were lovingly given. Some time ago a large swelling formed in the epigastric region. This caused me severe pain. In my desperation I was almost tempted to apply hot poultices as of old. But the passage of Scripture quoted above came to my thought, and I said, If God does not heal me, hot poultices cannot. Then, while I was praying to God with all my heart, the lump loosened and fell away. I felt as if evil had been swallowed up in the infinity of good. I was free, and thanked God from the depths of my heart for this proof of His infinite love.

In business, too, I have experienced that God is an ever present help, if we rely upon Him. I am very grateful that Christian Science has come into my life, and I am constantly endeavoring to live up to the maxim, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I am also sincerely grateful for an entire change of character; for deliverance from pride and haughtiness; and I am glad that through the change which has taken place in me many others have been shown the way to Christian Science.
