Out of daily increasing gratitude to God for the manifold and wonderful blessings which have been, and are being, bestowed upon me and mine through the ministrations of Christian Science, I humbly submit my testimony as to the efficacy of spiritual, scientific healing power.

I come from a family of physicians and surgeons. My mother and grandmother,—a member of our household,— and many of my relatives and ancestors, were devoutly religious, my grandfather being a minister of high standing. I was therefore brought up a child of the church and of materia medica.

As long ago as I can remember I had a longing to know and serve God; so I united with an orthodox church at the age of nine years. Though a regular attendant at both church and Sunday school and continuing to love the church, I became more and more dissatisfied as its teachings seemed to grow more and more confusing. I yearned for an all-loving and ever present God. Prayers became less effectual, troubles more frequent. I was always frail and subject to sickness; and my health steadily declined. After my dear father had done all he could for me, he took me to other physicians and specialists for one physical disorder or another; but I received only temporary relief. As the years passed, suffering increased; inherited stomach trouble, intense nervous sick headaches, chronic backache, and many other physical difficulties were my constant companions. I gave a long, fair trial to physicians of three schools; to electric, magnetic, osteopathic, and massage treatments; to diet, hygiene, change of climate, rests in hospitals and sanitariums; and was "nothing bettered, but rather grew worse."
