I thank God for Christian Science

I thank God for Christian Science. It is through Christian Science that we are beginning to demonstrate that man is God's image and likeness.

On February 23, 1924, while working as an electrician's helper for a manufacturing company, I was cleaning motors on the top of the foundry building, and on stepping out of the motor house on to the top of the building, not watching my step, I stepped into the skylight, going through the heavy glass and falling to the ground, about twenty feet below. I landed on my hips and right arm, breaking an arm and one of the vertebrae and fracturing another.

When I awoke, a few minutes later, in the arms of four men carrying me to the hospital room which the company maintains in one of the buildings, the first thought that came to me was that God would heal me because God had made man perfect. On reaching this room I told them, to call a Christian Science practitioner, as I wanted Christian Science treatment. They called him at once. The nurse told me I must go to the hospital to have X-ray pictures taken. I told her they could take me there, but as soon as that was done I wanted to go home. On reaching the hospital the first person I saw was the practitioner. He was present when the pictures were taken. As soon as this was done we were ready to go home, and asked for a release from the hospital. This was obtained, and we were soon on the way home, without any medical aid and without a bandage of any kind. I did not see the pictures. After three or four days I ate as usual. Nothing caused any trouble at any time. I was in bed just five weeks, and out of work thirteen weeks.
