When Christian Science was first presented to me by a dear friend and neighbor, I was reading a number of books which gave power to thought, but this friend knew they did not contain the truth, so she told me about Christian Science. As I was searching for the truth, I eagerly accepted it, and began at once to study the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, with the help of the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly.

While I was very much in need of something to help me in working out a number of problems, I was in no special need of physical healing at that time. I have been helped physically many times, however, since beginning the study of Christian Science, having been healed of constipation, sore feet, a twisted muscle in the calf of my leg, severe pain in an eye, and neuralgia in the head. I have also been helped financially through Christian Science; and I am most grateful for the health and strength that have been given me.

As a child I was never considered strong or well, and was obliged to be out of school much of the time on account of sickness; but since I have been left alone and have had to take care of myself, Christian Science has helped me to do more work than I should have thought possible. I have found many good friends; and they can never realize how they have helped me to overcome the sense of loneliness.
