Nearly six years ago I had reached the point where every material means I knew of had been applied and had failed to give any permanent relief from the many ills with which I was afflicted. At that time I had been an invalid for over two years with various internal troubles. I was not able to do anything at all for my family, could take no solid food whatever, and for many months lived on a prepared food. During that time I had tried four doctors, none of whom could do much for me, and all they could say was that I might be the better for an operation. To that I would not give my consent, and for some time I lingered on in great fear and terror as to what might happen.

Many times the thought came to me that God could help me, and I often prayed that I might be shown the way. One afternoon a friend, whom I had not seen for some time, called to see me and left two copies of the Christian Science Sentinel. These she asked me to read; and she told me about her daughter, who had recently been healed through Christian Science. I read both these periodicals through many times, and the healings mentioned in each one impressed me greatly. Although I did not then know anything about Christian Science, I felt sure it was good, and that if it could heal those people about whom I had read, it could heal me. About two weeks later I sent for a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and soon commenced to read it each day very earnestly. It was not long before I began to improve. I gradually became stronger and able to take ordinary food; and by the end of three months I was able to do some of my housework, also to go out for short walks. I must say that for some time discouragement would often creep in, and I had many seemingly dark days; but I eventually proved that if one clings steadfastly to the truth, divine Love does indeed meet all one's needs. At this time I was able to leave off my glasses. I had had very weak eyes and used to suffer frequently from severe headaches; but I am grateful that I now have very good sight and enjoy good health.

For all these physical healings I am truly grateful to God, the Giver of every good and perfect gift, and am most grateful for the spiritual understanding which has come to me through the study and application of the truth contained in Mrs. Eddy's writings. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a Christian Science Society; also for the privilege of helping at different times in the Sunday school and as organist. Christian Science has been a great blessing in our home, and I am very grateful that my children can attend the Sunday school and the church services. All the Christian Science literature is greatly appreciated by all our family, and words alone cannot express my gratitude to our Father-Mother God that I was led to the teaching of Christian Science.
