I am glad to acknowledge the many blessings which have come to me during the last twenty years through my slight understanding of Christian Science. I was first led to the study because of mental and physical suffering; and though it was some time before I began to realize the harmony belonging to man as he really is, I saw many beautiful healings in my own family and in others which encouraged me to continue.
Broken bones, fevers, croup, influenza, appendicitis, pneumonia, and other ills, have been destroyed very quickly by the aid of loving practitioners. On one occasion I had twelve teeth extracted, without suffering, through the realization that there is no real cause for fear. An almost instantaneous healing of a severe attack of influenza was the basis of a wonderful spiritual uplifting. After some hours of acute sickness, during which my only effort was to "leave the field to God, Life, Truth, and Love" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 419), I suddenly realized the law of harmony, and was healed. I promptly arose and went about my business, and had no convalescence whatever.
For all that Christian Science means, and has meant, to me and mine in the last twenty years, during which time a family of four has never had resort to material methods for healing, I am grateful to God, to Christ Jesus, and to Mrs. Eddy, through whom we have received the truth.
