Having learned through a friend that Christian Science...
Having learned through a friend that Christian Science had healed her child, I asked for Christian Science treatment at a time when I was suffering from an organic trouble that had caused much anxiety. I had an instantaneous and permanent healing. This meant much to me, although I did not understand how the healing came about. With the help of a practitioner, I continued to study, and glasses were laid aside that had been worn for over nineteen years, I having learned something of the meaning of the beatitude, "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God," understanding that as my thoughts are pure, I see good.
Other healings have followed, including that of rheumatism, from which I suffered many weeks. Help was lovingly given by a practitioner, who each day reminded me of this statement on page 578 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "And I will dwell in the house [the consciousness] of [Love] for ever." I repeated this many times; and one day I read this passage (ibid., p. 569): "He that touches the hem of Christ's robe and masters his mortal beliefs, animality and hate, rejoices in the proof of healing,—in a sweet and certain sense that God is Love." Then I was healed; and I knew how I was healed, for a deep sense of hatred had been replaced with thoughts of humility, compassion, and love.
I am grateful for every healing through Christian Science, for on each occasion I learn more of the truth about God and man. As I understand and use this truth, I am being healed continually, growing in the consciousness that God is Love. Words fail to express my appreciation of Mrs. Eddy's clear sense of God's love and her gift to the world; but I am happy to join with all Christian Scientists in striving to prove true this statement (ibid., p. 241): "The substance of all devotion is the reflection and demonstration of divine Love, healing sickness and destroying sin."
