We have been interested in Christian Science since about 1921, and have had many proofs of the healing power of divine Love. Our daughter, who at that time was fifteen years of age, was taken ill on New Year's Day, 1923. She had high fever and complained of severe pains in the abdomen. We tried to realize the unreality of this sickness by right thinking, but as we no doubt had not yet gained a right understanding and could not overcome our fear, our daughter grew worse. To all appearances she was suffering from peritonitis. At her request we decided to telegraph to a Christian Science practitioner in Berlin. I think I can say there was a change for the better as soon as the practitioner received the telegram; at least the severe pains yielded somewhat and the fever abated. From that time on her condition gradually improved, and about a fortnight later she was perfectly well.
