Christian Science has been of such inestimable value to me for so many years that I feel it is high time I added my testimony to those which week by week and month by month bear witness in our periodicals to the beneficent results which follow the practical application of Christian Science.
I first read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, fourteen years ago. I was staying in a doctor's house, and his wife thought it might interest me, though she could only partially accept its teachings herself. When I read that book, I knew that I had at last found the truth for which I had been yearning, consciously and unconsciously, for many years. I had found the right door, and the key which opened it, into the kingdom of heaven, harmony. I had always loved the Bible, and had a blind, unshakable faith in its promises and in the God it taught us about; and now here was the understanding so necessary to make faith of practical use.
For four years I continued to read and meditate over our textbook, and then an opportunity arose to prove whether the truth was all I thought and believed it to be. I was faced with an operation, and having suffered much already, asked my husband to inquire about a Christian Science practitioner. He did so, and telegraphed for absent treatment, as we were a hundred miles from London, far in the country. Within forty-eight hours I was completely and perfectly healed.
