For the information of your readers allow me space to correct a statement contained in an article appearing in your recent issue, wherein the writer classifies Christian Science as an occult science, along with spiritualism, mind reading, and astrology. There is nothing hidden or mystical in Christian Science. Christian Science is a religion founded on the teachings of Christ Jesus. It is carrying out the instructions of the Master, when he said, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel," and, "Heal the sick." It is doing this in the same manner employed by him, that is, through spiritual understanding of the operation of divine law, which is divinely natural and not mysterious or unnatural. Mary Baker Eddy says in the Preface to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. xi): "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation. Now, as then, these mighty works are not supernatural, but supremely natural." The many works which Jesus performed are being repeated to-day by Christian Scientists in so far as the rules governing this Science are correctly understood and applied.
