With a heart full of gratitude I review the last few years, in which I have experienced so many blessings. For eight years I suffered from an acute abdominal complaint, which had mentally and physically shattered my health, and which, in spite of an operation, had again manifested itself so that a year later I was to undergo another operation. But I objected to this, as I had lost all confidence in such treatment. Then, a few years later, I was led by divine Love to Christian Science. I was healed within five weeks by attending the services and visiting the Reading Room, where I was a daily visitor, reading the Christian Science literature to be found there. I studied the wonderful truths in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and Mrs. Eddy's other writings, and what I read so completely occupied my thoughts that I had no time to think of my complaint. A short time ago a medical examination, to which I was summoned by the authorities of the hospital of which I was formerly an inmate, revealed the fact that I was perfectly well. I am sincerely grateful for this wonderful healing.

Since then I have had another very valuable experience. I was taken suddenly ill. The cause of this illness was the fear of a disease which I had seen in the family, and the belief in heredity. This thought of fear had developed in my consciousness to such an extent that exactly the same symptoms appeared on my body. My hip was dislocated, and was drawn upward until it almost touched the upper part of my arm. My whole body was affected. In two days my condition was so bad that I could neither sit nor walk. The pain became more and more intense, and paralysis, extending from the nape of my neck to my leg, set in. I seemed to be entirely helpless. We asked a Christian Science practitioner for help. Work was taken up at once. Two days later the crisis was overcome, and every morning I could ascertain with joy and gratitude a decided improvement. Three weeks later my body had regained its normal position, and the pain had disappeared. During this time, in spite of the inharmonious condition, there was a wonderful sense of peace in our home.

As soon as I was able to leave my bed again I suffered from chronic indigestion. The bowels refused to function, and for twelve days this condition grew worse. Therefore I asked a Christian Science practitioner for help, which was given in the form of absent treatment. As soon as the practitioner took up the work the digestive organs became perfectly normal again without any difficulty or pain, just as if there had been no disorder. At the time of these physical healings a thorough moral change was effected through the devotion and patient help of a practitioner, whereby serious inharmonious conditions, which had previously threatened to break up my home, were overcome, so that our life was converted into a peaceful and harmonious one.
