Supply
A Problem that is often presented to the student of Christian Science is that of supply, adequate provision, maintenance, or what is commonly termed meeting financial requirements. While prior to taking up the study of Science this may have seemed to be an insuperable obstacle to many, yet to the consecrated student of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, it presents only an added opportunity for demonstrating the fact that his religion is exact Science, a possibility of making the seeming problem a stepping-stone to a truer sense of substance, an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of divine Principle, a deeper appreciation of the omnipresence and availability of our Father-Mother God.
Given the problem, just how is one to go about its solution? To be supplied is to have that furnished which is required. Since we have learned in Christian Science that Spirit is infinite and matter is unreal, surely we do not require unreality. We have also learned that all reality is spiritual; so our needs must all be spiritual. All good comes to us from God, and His gifts are spiritual and infinite. Supply, then, may be said to be the manifestation of infinite good.
Mrs. Eddy has written in Science and Health (p. 68), "Christian Science presents unfoldment, not accretion." One authority defines unfoldment as revelation, disentanglement, explanation. Webster defines accretion as addition. Christian Science, then, presents the unfoldment of the infinitude of good. Can there be any addition to infinity? Divine Love has already furnished all. What we need to do is to realize this fact, and to open our eyes to the actuality that man's requirements are already met.
